De Jong bicycle kick propels PSV to 3-0 win

Luuk de Jong scored a brilliant bicycle kick goal to help PSV Eindhoven to a 3-0 win over FC Utrecht in the Dutch Eredivisie on Saturday (3rd March).

Unbeaten in eight games FC Utrecht were playing with a flowing confidence as they went to Dutch Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven. A win here and PSV would be ten points clear of Ajax who play on Sunday.

But they could have done with this shot from Mark van der Maarel going in, because the rest was all PSV. Their first goal owed much to fortune as Bart Ramselaar's shot deflected off the unfortunate Ramon Leeuwin.

Their second was very special - Luuk de Jong executing the perfect bicycle kick and keeper David Jensen was rooted to the spot.

De Jong failed to make an impact in the English Premier League with Newcastle United, but 77 goals in 4 seasons at PSV are testament to his dominance in the Eredivisie. This was his tenth and most remarkable goal of the season - and it impressed his coach Phillip Cocu

The hallmark of any good team is their speed and incisiveness on the counter-attack, and Steven Bergwijn showed both qualities as he wrapped the match up - 3-0 PSV.
