PSV crush Ajax 3-0 in top of the table

PSV Eindhoven thrashed Ajax 3-0 in Sunday's (23 September) battle of the top two in the Eredivisie.

The game was effectively over by the interval. Steven Bergwijn was partly responsible for that. He persistently caused issues on Ajax's right flank. Andre Onana managed to keep out his shot in the 21st minute.

But the visiting 'keeper could do little about Gaston Pereiro's follow-up, the ball taking a deflection as it threaded its way through a forest of legs.

Onana was directly to blame for the second, three minutes later. His poor attempted clearance was swiftly returned - and clinically finished by Luuk de Jong.

Bergwijn was at the heart of the third after 35 minutes, eventually setting up Hirving Lozano.

Ajax had their chances - but were unable to beat Jeroen Zoet. Three-nil proved to be the final score.

PSV's 100 per cent record remains intact after six games of the new campaign. Ajax stay second - but are now five points adrift - and level on points with Feyenoord and Heracles.
