PSV stage stunning comeback in Alkmaar

PSV took a major step towards the Eredivisie title with an impressive win over AZ in the AFAS Stadion on Saturday night. Phillip Cocu's side showed resilience to come from two goals down to secure a vital 3-2 victory.

The visitors looked to be deep in trouble when Wout Weghorst put AZ 2-0 up with goals after 52 and 60 minutes. But some poor marking at a free kick gave Gaston Pereiro the chance to pull one back after 73 minutes.

Two minutes later PSV were level as Hirving Lozano pounced on a disastrous error by AZ goalkeeper Marco Bizot. And just three minutes after that Marco van Ginkel put the team from Eindhoven in the lead from a penalty awarded for a foul by AZ's by Ron Vlaar on Luuk de Jong.

Two minutes from time AZ and Vlaar's misery was compounded when he was sent off for another foul, this time on Lozano.

Saturday's victory means PSV can clinch the title by beating second-placed Ajax at home next weekend. Despite their defeat, AZ remain third.
