Huntelaar scores twice as Ajax thrash Emmen

Having conceded four at home to AZ last weekend, newly-promoted Emmen suffered another heavy defeat in the Dutch Eredivisie at the hands of Ajax on Saturday.

Emmen, who were promoted to the Netherlands' top flight for the first time in their 93-year history, conceded five in Amsterdam with Ajax striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar on the scoresheet twice.

Huntelaar's strike partner Hakim Ziyech opened the scoring in the eighth minute, after the former Real Madrid forward played the ball to the Moroccan and he guided his strike beyond visiting goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen.

Huntelaar then scored either side of half-time.

The first came in the 38th minute when the 35-year-old pounced on a loose ball after the ever-dangerous Ziyech sent a header against the Emmen post.

He scored his second and Ajax's third as the hour mark approached with a header from Carel Eiting's left-wing cross.

Dusan Tadic soon tapped in his second Eredivisie goal in Ajax colours since the Serb moved from English Premier League side Southampton in the close season.

Glenn Bijl completed the visitors' misery when he unfortunately scored an own goal as he attempted to take the ball away from the on-rushing Donny van de Beek.

Ajax comfortable 5-0 victors and they sit on seven points after three games, while Emmen's opening weekend win already seems a long time ago with nine goals conceded in their last two games.
