Frenkie de Jong named February's Player of the Month

AFC Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong has been named the Eredivisie Player of the Month for the second time. The 21-years-old Dutchman, who heads to FC Barcelona next season, beat goalkeepers Jan Blaswich (Heracles Almelo) and Kenneth Vermeer (Feyenoord) to the award. 

The Eredivisie Player of the Month is determined on the basis of match data of Opta Sports. This years first Player of the Month was Robin van Persie (Feyenoord Rotterdam), followed by Kristoffer Peterson (Heracles Almelo), Hakim Ziyech (AFC Ajax), Nicolás Tagliafico (AFC Ajax), Frenkie de Jong (AFC Ajax) and Patrick Joosten (VVV-Venlo). 

Frenkie de Jong sent (390) and completed (354) more passes than any other player in February, and is also the player with the most ball recoveries. 

The 21-year-old Lazaros Lamprou of Fortuna Sittard has been named Eredivisie Talent of the Month. The Greek attacker, on loan from PAOK Saloniki, needed only five shots on target for three goals in February. In addition, Lamprou noted 142 ball touches, 17 dribbles and 39 individual duels. Lamprou received the trophy from FOX Sports reporter Fresia Cousiño Arias.

Eredivisie XI Team of the Month February, based on matchdata of Opta Sport, consists of: goalkeeper Janis Blaswich (Heracles Almelo), defenders Angeliño (PSV Eindhoven), Teun Koopmeiners (AZ Alkmaar), Matthijs de Ligt (AFC Ajax) and Jonas Svensson (AZ Alkmaar), midfielders Frenkie de Jong (AFC Ajax), Adem Maher (AZ Alkmaar) and Donny van de Beek (AFC Ajax) and attackers Lazaros Lamprou (Fortuna Sittard), Luuk de Jong (PSV) and Martin Ødegaard (Vitesse).
