Thulani Serero: Bafana Bafana and Vitesse midfielder linked with Al Jazira move

The 29-year-old creative player is reportedly wanted by the two-time UAE Pro League champions

South Africa international Thulani Serero has responded to reports linking him with possible move to United Arab Emirates (UAE) giants Al Jazira Club.

The midfielder has been a regular for Dutch Eredivisie side Vitesse Arnhem since moving to the club in June 2017.

Serero started Vitesse's two Eredivisie matches this season and his exploits have attracted interest from Asia, according to reports coming out of Holland.

Dutch publication De Telegraaf has revealed that Serero is set to join Al Jazira after their €1 million (R17 million) bid was accepted by Vitesse.

Serero commented on his future with Vitesse after helping the team secure a 2-0 victory over Willem II over the weekend.

"I'm still here. I'm still a Vitesse player. So, my focus is still here," Serero told Dutch TV.

The former Ajax Cape Town player refused to indicate whether or not he could soon leave his current club.

"All my focus is on Vitesse. I showed it today. I played the game and I can't comment on some things," he added.

Serero has managed to revive his career at Vitesse after parting ways with Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam at the end of the 2016/17 season.

The experienced playmaker won three Eredivisie titles with Ajax before he fell down the pecking order at the club.

His good form at Vitesse helped him cement his place in the Bafana Bafana squad as he was also part of Stuart Baxter's 23-man squad that took part at Afcon 2019 in Egypt.
